Biography
Shanan Zickefoose, BSN, RN, CPCP began her cosmetic tattooing career in 2006 and immediately sought to further her knowledge and skills. She joined the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) in 2007 and became a regular attendee at conventions and conferences. Having earned the Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) credential, Shanan was recognized by the SPCP for achieving the exam’s highest score in 2010. Shanan was the first in her state of Oklahoma to become CPCP certified. She served on the SPCP Board of Directors as the secretary and communications chair
from 2011 through 2013.
Always driven by a challenge, she pursued and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Tulsa. Through her nursing specialties and personal experience with her daughter's pediatric cancer and subsequent “flesh eating bacteria” infection, she gained special interest in healing wounds and promoting infection control. She has studied extensive scientific research in both infection control and wound care in a healthcare setting. She is also a highly sought-after trainer in Oklahoma and provides fundamental, intermediate, and advanced training for both local and national students.
Shanan currently serves on the advisory board as an esteemed SPCP trainer member, she began teaching the Train the Trainer program in the spring of 2017. Shanan continues to update this very important program for current and upcoming international permanent cosmetic trainers . She facilitates this program during every SPCP spring convention and fall conference in addition to online courses. Following the SPCP trainer member guidelines, she provides counsel and advisement throughout the year to those interested in training as well as those who desire modifications to their training. Shanan is also a highly regarded industry speaker, presenting Wound Care in the Permanent Cosmetic Industry and Infection Control Standards at annual SPCP conventions.
Shanan recently authored a popular SPCP book, Principles of Infection Control for the Tattoo Industry, this book is relative for both permanent cosmetic professionals as well as professional tattoo artists.
At the 2019 SPCP Annual Convention, in addition to being the Train the Trainer educator, she was asked to be a presenter covering the topic of Infection Control. During the event at the annual members’ meeting and luncheon, Shanan received the prestigious Industry Ambassador Award for her contribution as the Train the Trainer Coordinator and for authoring the book, Principles of Infection Control for the Tattoo Industry. What a huge surprise and a great honor to receive the biggest award of 2019!
